Cavs fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Evan Mobley injury from Cleveland’s loss to the Miami Heat is not going to be serious. The Mobley stats have been getting better every year, and he is currently having his best season to date. Mobley has been a key part of the Cavs’ incredible season, and losing him for any significant time would be devastating for the team. The Cavs injury report has been relatively clean so far, so Mobley saying “I’m good” about his ankle sprain is great news for the team.

Evan Mobley Stats
Mobley’s stats this year have been awesome. Mobley is averaging a career-high in points at 18.3 per game. He also is contributing 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists to the stat sheet. Known for his defense, he isn’t letting down in that department either. Mobley is averaging a career-high in steals at 1.1 a game and is still helping protect the rim with 1.5 blocks per game. He is also in the top 20 in defensive win shares.
The biggest jump in Mobley’s game, however, has been his three-point shooting. Especially with him being paired in the frontcourt with Jarrett Allen, it has always been essential for Mobley to improve his three-point shooting. Entering the season, Mobley was a career 26.5% three-point shooter, hardly a number that opponents needed to respect. This season, however, he has taken the leap. Mobley is shooting 40% on threes. He has also almost doubled his attempts from deep per game from 1.2 per game last season to 2.3 this season.
Mobley Injury Not Deemed Serious
Mobley missed the second half of the Miami Heat game but afterward said that the injury won’t be a serious one. He wasn’t even wearing a walking boot after the game. On top of that, the Cavaliers have a very light stretch of games over the next few days, so even if Mobley was forced to miss some time, the team shouldn’t suffer greatly.
Between now and December 20, the Cavs only have two games against the Wizards and Nets. As the Cavs currently have the best record in the league, and they should be able to handle both of these teams relatively easily even without their star forward.
Mobley Injury Continues Cavs Injury Report Luck
A huge part of the Cavs’ success this year has been that the Cavs injury report this season has been relatively empty. The Cavs’ four best players, Mobley, Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen, have missed a combined three games between them all. This incredible injury luck has allowed them to build chemistry and continuity that they weren’t able to find last season.
Last year, the story was completely different. The team was decimated by injuries from the start. Additionally, they never were able to really find healthy stretches throughout the year. Mitchell, Garland, and Mobley played 55, 57, and 50 games respectively. Allen was the only key player with decent health last season; he played 77 games.
It seems like the Mobley injury isn’t going to be significant, so the Cavs injury luck will hopefully continue.
