The Cleveland Cavaliers have expressed interest in acquiring De’Andre Hunter from the Atlanta Hawks, sources tell Cleveland.com. The Cavaliers and Hawks have discussed Caris LeVert going back to the Hawks in exchange for Hunter.
LeVert is a rotation mainstay and a favorite of Kenny Atkinson dating back to their time together with the Brooklyn Nets. LeVert will be a free agent this coming offseason.
Hunter makes $21.6 million this year and is set to make $23.3 million and $24.9 million the following two seasons.
The Cavaliers had Hunter on their radar going into the 2019 draft, but the Hawks jumped ahead of them to select him at No. 4. The Cavaliers have done extensive homework on Hunter and how he would fit with the team. Hunter is also best friends with college teammate Ty Jerome.
