The Cavaliers will travel to Philadelphia short handed.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be shorthanded once again when they travel to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. Evan Mobley (calf) and Isaac Okoro (shoulder) have been ruled out for the game. Caris LeVert (wrist) is listed as questionable.
Kenny Atkinson described Mobley’s calf strain as day-to-day when he was asked about it before Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
“It’s not a bad strain,” Atkinson said. “[It’s a] slight strain. I don’t think it’s going to be long-term. I think it’s going to be a pretty short thing.”
Mobley hasn’t played since the loss last Thursday to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s averaging 18.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in a season in which he will likely be named an All-Star.
Okoro has been dealing with a shoulder injury since Dec. 17. He missed over three weeks with the injury and wasn’t the same when he returned and tried to play through it on Jan. 8. His shot, which has been consistent all season, wasn’t the same in his five games back. The hope is that he will be closer to fully healthy when he returns next.
LeVert has been held out of Cleveland’s last two games and could miss another with a wrist injury. He last played in the win on Friday over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Cavs are in the midst of a busy portion of their schedule. They play the Houston Rockets again on Saturday in a stretch that includes five games in seven nights. We’ll see if any of their injured players can make a return during that run of games.
