Tonight, the 10th-seeded Miami Heat face the 8th-seeded Atlanta Hawks in a single-game battle to get in the first round of the playoffs. It’s in Atlanta for a chance to face the Cleveland Cavaliers, the one seed, in a seven-game first-round series.
While this garners interest, of course. The average opinion is that neither team truly has any chance against the Cavs in a seven-game series. However, there’s a reason the games are played and always a chance at an upset.
Regarding any preference on which team wins for Cavs fans, it’s truly up in the air. It’ll just be nice to wait-and-see who the opponent finally is in this first round. With the new way the playoffs are, the wait is the worst for ironically those that are the best in teams like the Wine and Gold.
What to watch for tonight?
The Heat can’t seem to win lately, losing six of seven. If you remember, they sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors and that clearly doesn’t seem to have helped them overall.
In his absence, the Heat have been relying on the performances of Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. Despite a recent win over the Chicago Bulls, Miami’s play as a team remains extremely concerning overall, as they barely maintained a position in the Eastern Conference standings for this chance.
On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks have been performing well, with Trae Young leading the charge. The Hawks’ offense has been exceptionally great and their defense has shown improvement. Enough to make the Heat truly have to worry about this battle in Atlanta.
Look for Tyler Herro vs. Trae Young on the floor battling it out. Also, can Bam Adebayo make an impact on both ends of the floor? It’s what to think and consider about tonight…
I believe the Hawks will win, but it will be a close one. I have the Cavs winning in five games against either team once it’s time. Regardless of who wins, again, there’s not a huge fear of either opponent.
I think everyone just wants to get to playing some Cavs playoff basketball, no matter who they’re against, come Sunday at seven in Cleveland, Rocket Arena. We know the place will be going crazy for the opportunity this franchise once again has to contend for a championship.
