It’s been a Browns-themed couple of days, yet today it was the Cavaliers that made a splash and that was with the extension of forward Isaac Okoro. It’s a three-year, $38 million-dollar contract to be a Cavalier for the next few seasons.
Via ESPN: Cleveland secured massive contract extensions with superstar guard Donovan Mitchell (three years, $150 million), young cornerstone forward Evan Mobley (five years, $224 million) and center Jarrett Allen (three years, $91 million). The Cavaliers also hired Kenny Atkinson away from the Golden State Warriors to replace J.B. Bickerstaff as coach.
Okoro is 6’5 and he scored 9.4 points a night, had three rebounds and 1.9 assists last season. He also shot 49% from the floor (39.1% from deep).
This isn’t a signing that is going to alter the franchise like a Mitchell one or anything. However, it keeps a solid role-player in Cleveland and for a reasonable price too. That can’t be complained about.
Hopefully, entering his fifth season in The Land, we’ll see Okoro continue to improve as a member of the Cavs. Welcome, back, Isaac.
