A lot of fans and players are disappointed at the fact that Cleveland Browns fans were cheering and happy when quarterback Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles this afternoon and is likely out for the entire season.

Here’s a reminder Browns that fans have dealt with:
-Year full of losing currently at 1-6
-Watson off-field allegations
-Watson horrible trade/contract
-Just had our baseball team lose
-Decades of bad football
-No Super Bowl
***Thus, I believe that we can Cheer/Boo if we want.

Now, I understand many are set in their ways about never cheering or being happy for someone who is hurt. Well, as just described there is a big reason that Watson is disliked and it has nothing to do with his football play or lack thereof. If it was simply a quarterback who was bad at his job and then got hurt, that would be one thing. Yet the number of allegations against him is wild and makes sense why he is disliked, to begin with here in Cleveland, for his off-the-field actions.
It’s absolutely no surprise to me that the Cleveland fans had a reaction to the injury and it should be of no surprise to you either.
This is what Myles Garrett said via Yahoo: “It was hard, the reaction that the fans gave,” Garrett said. “Whether it’s an opponent who goes down or one of our own, we don’t boo. We don’t boo guys that are injured on the field, especially with the instance when the cart comes out. We should be ashamed of ourselves as Browns and as fans to boo anyone and their downfall — to be a season-altering, career-altering injury.”
In most instances, that statement is completely true. Even if it’s a player on the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, we’d just stay in silence if the man was injured. However, this is just different and it’s because of the background story of this quarterback plus the sucking at his job and contract situation.
Thus, I’m giving fans a free pass on this one. Those who are now posting that they aren’t watching or rooting for the Browns cause of the fans’ actions? Alright, see you later. Enjoy whichever team you pick to root for now. Those fans would likely do the same thing if their star player was doing that for them.
All I know is the Cleveland fan base is the best on the planet and nothing at all will change my thinking. It’s quite simple, regardless of this incident with Watson against the Bengals. Deep down, I think most are happy to see the guy gone in whatever way possible.
One last factor to think about is the fact that the man wasn’t dying. He wasn’t having a heart attack on the field or anything. Yes, his injury was severe but he is going to wake up tomorrow…
From Me Alone: Get well soon, Deshaun.
