New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians: Game 3 of the ALCS will go down as one of the greatest games ever played. David Fry continues to make his mark in October Baseball. He wins it for the Guardians in the bottom of the tenth inning with a two-run home run to left field, 7-5.
Guardians’ magical season is far from over. Fry was the hero in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers and came through once again. He’s becoming a postseason legend for Cleveland.
Guardians starter Matthew Boyd tossed five innings and allowed one run. He got a no-decision. Pedro Avila won after pitching one inning out of relief with two strikeouts.
Kyle Manzardo hit his first postseason home run to right field off Clarke Schmidt in the bottom of the third inning.
Four iconic moments occurred from the eighth to the tenth inning. In the top of the 8th inning, with the Guardians leading 3-1 and one man on base, Aaron Judge hit a line shot to right field to tie the game at 3-3.
After Judge, Giancarlo Stanton hit a deep shot to centerfield to put the Yankees on top 4-3. Both home runs came off the best closer in baseball, Emmanuel Clase. Unreal!
The Yankees would score another run in the top of the 9th inning. But then, a Christmas present would appear in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Guardians were one out away from going down 0-3 in the series. Jhonkensy Noel steps up to the plate and hits a tape measure shot to left field to tie the game—the giant swing of his life.
Noel is the first rookie in MLB history to hit a tying/go-ahead home run with his team trailing in the 9th inning or later of a postseason game.
The Guardians have a chance to tie the series, as Game 4 will be tonight at 8:08 p.m. Luis Gil will pitch for the Yankees and Gavin Williams for the Guardians.
