It ended in a loss.
Most of the time, a game resulting in that has a lot to do with poor play from the quarterback. It’s not necessarily all his fault, but most of the time it sadly is such. The Browns lost to the Las Vegas Raiders by a score of 20-16 on the road and it was certainly disappointing.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson threw 24/32 for 176 yards, a touchdown and a single interception that wasn’t his fault at all. His QBR was 84.9…
Of course, it’s easy to criticize Watson for his poor play so far as a member of the Browns and also for his personal issues off the field as well.
Think about if Amari Cooper didn’t deflect that pass that ended in an interception. Also, if that horrific holding call that negated an 82-yard touchdown wasn’t called. It would’ve changed the entire outcome of the game.
Even so, said numbers by Watson were completely solid and it appears he has finally found some type of edge that has been missing. Obviously, the team is 1-3 and didn’t get a victory Sunday, but it’s a good sign moving as the year progresses with a game in Washington against the 3-1 Commanders.
These Browns are in need of help from everyone on the team. At least said quarterback who has been struggling so much is finally starting to show something. With a little assistance from his team, it’ll make everything just that much better.
1-3 is not the end of a season for a team, but it certainly makes it an uphill climb moving forward despite 13 games left in the year. However, if the play of the quarterback in Watson remains excellent, it’ll make it that much easier for success.
Certainly, all who watch know that football is a team sport. If any quarterback fails to get help from the offensive linemen or wide receivers, it doesn’t matter how good he is because the end result will be a failure.
This upcoming week in said matchup against the Commanders, look for a team effort and not just the expectations of Watson to deliver on his own. Let’s catch the ball, block for said quarterback and not make stupid penalties like last week.
Take it one game at a time to try and right a season that currently looks very wrong sadly and that’s a tough thing to watch here in the hometown of Cleveland.
