Well, everyone has their opinion on how Cleveland Browns fans should have behaved after Deshaun Watson had a torn Achilles injury on Sunday against the Bengals. I had mine which you can read by…
It has been officially confirmed that Watson will be out for the rest of the season and it’s been a 1-6 disaster so far here in Cleveland.
Winning would’ve cured all and that’s simply the truth. Sure, fans don’t like Deshaun’s off-the-field allegations and the fact that his contract is enormous. But the main goal of this league is to win and eventually get that coveted Super Bowl. Yeah, this franchise isn’t even close to that and it was the signing of Watson himself that was supposed to propel them to the top.
Of course, in my previous article I pointed out that some fans wouldn’t have liked the man even if he went undefeated and won that Super Bowl. However, that’s a very small amount and in reality the expectation is that if you’re going to be the starting quarterback for the team then you better start winning some games and making this team better.
Watson was doing absolutely none of that as the record shows.
IF Watson was this magically perfect person off the field and still had this horrific record on the field, it would be interesting to see how the reaction would’ve been…but we’ll never know. Are fans going to cite his off-the-field stuff, of course.
Honestly, it’s not just football. Take every sport, movie, show or type of entertainment and dig through each star’s personal life. Well, you’ll probably find something that doesn’t make them such a shining star.
However, it’s the product that is produced and the ability of the person’s craft that ultimately matters when judgment is made.
The Browns sucked this entire year and that is a big reason why there was said cheering when Watson went down. The off-the-field is that add-on because it’s a part of Watson’s character.
I made this scenario and posted it on my personal social media page.
The idea is that all these “super noble” Browns fans who claim to be so disgusted with the fans who were cheering are not about to have a daughter of theirs spend that alone time with the guy that we are supposed to feel so sorry for.
Had the Browns been 6-0 and this same occurrence happened well these fans that have dealt with it all wouldn’t be happy with the injury that happened. On the flip side, maybe all of those players talking about it should be more focused on getting better for the remainder of the awful season instead of crying about the fans that they are lucky enough to still have here in The Land.
