Later today, the Guardians will travel to Detroit to take on the Tigers for Game 3 of the ALDS. After two games in Cleveland, the Guardians took the first game with a 7-0 victory and lost the second game by a final score of 3-0.
Overall, there has not been much scoring in this series. The Guardians got hot scoring at the beginning of Game 1, while the Tigers only scored on a three-run home run in their victory in Game 2. This game today will be interesting as we will see who has the upper hand in this series.
The Guardians have pitched well, aside from the three-run home run given up by Clase. If the Guardians continue to pitch well and find a way to hit, the series should go in favor of the Guardians. Getting some consistent hits and adding some runs early on in this game is the main key to this victory.
The Guardians will also need to avoid making any silly mistakes and have to take the batters on the Tigers seriously. The hope is that the Guardians can grab these two games in Detroit and not have a Game 5. Even though Game 5 would be in Cleveland, there is a chance Tarik Skubel will be pitching for the Tigers again who had a great game keeping Cleveland from scoring any runs.
The keys to this game and for the rest of the series is: Do not take the Tiger’s batters lightly, avoid silly mistakes, get some consistent hits that lead to runs, try to avoid a Game 5 in this series.
