Max Strus was added to injury report Monday around noon
Cleveland Cavaliers swingman Max Strus has been added to the injury report for Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with an ankle injury. He’s listed as questionable.
Strus suffered an injury to the same right ankle that sidelined him for the first several weeks of the season. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Strus missed this game for precautionary reasons.
Strus has been steady in his last ten games as a starter averaging 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. After a slow shooting start to his season, Strus has put together a decent collection of games. In his last two outings, he scored 17 points against the Washington Wizards and 15 against the Detroit Pistons.
If Strus ends up missing the game, then it would presumably lead to De’Andre Hunter starting in his wine and gold debut. Hunter was acquired from the Atlanta Hawks in a trade deadline move that saw Cleveland send out locker-room favorites Caris LeVert and George Niang.
Hunter is a perfect fit hypothetically for the Cavs as he checks the boxes for a traditional wing. Hunter averaged a career-high 19 points per game for the Hawks. The Cavaliers are hoping that this career year translates to quality minutes with the starters.
Strus could join Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade on the list of players who will not suit up on Monday. Minnesota similarly has some injuries that could lead to players sitting out. Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo are listed as out with Anthony Edwards being questionable for the contest.
