We may have to wait for LeBron’s first game as a 40-year-old.
The Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Los Angeles Lakers on New Year’s Eve, the day after LeBron James’s 40th birthday. However, we might have to wait to see 40-year-old LeBron take the court. He’s officially listed as being questionable with an illness for Tuesday’s matchup against Cleveland.
James has joked in the past that his 40th birthday party was going to be “gigantic.” We don’t know if it was or not, but we do know that LeBron isn’t above missing a game because he possibly drank too much wine in his driveway the day before and missed the game the next day with a “strep throat.”
It’s possible that LeBron is sick, although, he didn’t look that way during his post-practice media availability on Monday.
The Cavs will be playing their second night of a back-to-back after defeating the Golden State Warriors on Monday. Despite the lopsided score, this wasn’t necessarily the Cavs best showing. It was a sloppy offensive game in the first half and the Warriors missed some easy opportunities when they had a chance the build the lead.
The one-sided score did allow the Cavs to keep each of their starters under 30 minutes in the win. That should be beneficial in allowing the Cavaliers to put their best foot forward in Los Angeles tonight.
The Lakers could be without Anthony Davis as well. He’s listed as probable on the latest injury report with an ankle sprain. Jalen Hood-Schifino, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Christian Wood will be out for the Lakers. Isaac Okoro is expected to be out for the Cavaliers.
