Luke Travers and Melbourne of Australia’s NBL have agreed to a mutual release. This will allow Travers to pursue NBA opportunities.
Travers’ draft rights are retained by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 6-foot-7 forward was drafted by the Cavs with the 26th pick in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
The soon-to-be 23-year-old played for Melbourne last season, after spending the first four years of his career with Perth. Last season, Travers averaged 12.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game.
Cleveland has three standard roster spots, plus all three of their two-way spots, still open. It’s expected that Travers will fill one of those open spots for the Cavaliers for next season.
