The Cleveland Cavaliers have started this season with an incredible winning streak of 13 in a row and it’s an absolutely phenomenal experience to be a part of as a fan. What comes with the streak is the comparison to all of the other teams in past years and the top streaks ever to start seasons.
The Golden State Warriors started the 2015-2016 season with 24 straight wins in a row. Their team ended up going 73-9 on the year in one of the greatest seasons in history. However, it’s not the regular season that I look at. It’s the fact that those same Warriors were unable to win the NBA Finals and actually lost it to our very Cavaliers who came back from down 3-1, detailed it out, changed the blueprint and beat them.
These are the record streaks:
This winning streak is so great for this franchise, especially with a new head coach in Kenny Atkinson who clearly has a way with the troops.
The tough part is the truth that comes with every season. It’s the playoffs that matter most and no matter how outstanding the regular season play is those battles matter more. Frankly, I didn’t even know the Warriors had such an incredible streak to start their year way back when because I’ve always simply focused on how LeBron, Kyrie and company stole the title away from them.
In a weird way, a part of me would be just okay with the Cavs actually losing a game. The streak is fun and it’s great to watch but a lot of how a team learns best before the postseason is by hardship that comes in the regular season. And yes, there is a lot of basketball to be played. This team isn’t banking on an 82-0 season or anything.
Let’s just hope when it gets to that time of the year when the games count for so much more and represent elimination that the Cavs are ready and well-equipped to win it all.
Because a winning streak is fun, but we all know just how great a championship title is when it all comes down to it all.
This article isn’t a demand for anything now. What do I mean by that?
Well, most of my articles are to request the Browns per-say to actually do something different cause they suck so badly.
What else would fans want differently than the team to continue to win? It’s for that aforementioned time that this squad is ready to go and battle-tested to be able to beat the best of the best.
The Warriors weren’t able to hold it together. Now, will our Cavs? Only time will tell…
