Reviewing some of the best player props for
Cleveland Cavaliers playoff basketball is back as they open up their first-round series with the Miami Heat tonight at 7 PM. Our friends at FanDuel are offering player prop bets for all playoff games.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorites for Game 1.
Donovan Mitchell over 1.5 steals +116
Mitchell’s energy is always turned up a notch in the playoffs. That will be especially true tonight after not playing for two full weeks.
We know Mitchell is going to bring it on the offensive end, but I’d also anticipate him trying to make an impact defensively by getting into passing lanes. This is why I really like this bet.
Mitchell’s 6’10” wingspan allows him to play passing lanes well for a guard his size. This, combined with his athleticism and understanding of the game, has allowed him to lead the team in steals this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does so again on a night he has a little extra juice.
Ty Jerome +15 points +360
This will be Jerome’s first playoff game in his career. I expect him to try to make the most of it by coming out aggressive, looking to get into the lane for his floater, and pulling up from three-point range.
Jerome has been an incredibly important scorer and facilitator throughout this season. His ability to read defenses and create space for his shots off-the-dribble should translate well to playoff basketball.
De’Andre Hunter 4+ made threes +390
Head coach Kenny Atkinson has done a good job of managing his best player’s minutes all season. I’m interested to see whether or not he gives his top guys more time on the floor in the playoffs. If he does, Hunter is someone I would expect to have his minutes increase and thus his three-point attempts.
Hunter isn’t afraid to shoot. He’s been a great three-point shooter all season and isn’t shy about letting it fly if he has any daylight.
Darius Garland to record a double-double +550
This one could pan out if you’re looking for more of a long shot.
The bet is basically about whether or not Garland can record 10 or more assists. This season, he’s registered double-digit assists seven times. He scored 10 or more points in each of those games. Additionally, he registered less than 10 points three times this season in a game he didn’t leave with an injury.
Right now, Garland is +500 to record 10+ assists. You might as well get slightly better odds for essentially the same bet.
Whether or not Garland can get to double-digit assists is a separate question.
Garland has been a great floor general this season. With it being the first playoff game, I think he is going to make an even greater effort than normal to get his teammates involved early and often. Because of that, I like the chances of Garland getting double-digit assists and a double-double.
