There was much going on this past Monday. From the celebrations of MLK to the swearing-in of a new United States President, the Ohio State Buckeyes were also celebrating their victorious win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Buckeyes defeated the Irish by a final score of 34-23, making this Ohio State’s first National Championship in 10 years when they last defeated the Oregon Ducks. This is also the Buckeyes’ 9th-claimed National Championship in football. Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day also won his first National Championship as a head coach.
The Buckeyes end their season on top giving them the first National Championship in the 12-team playoff team era. This is also unique since the Buckeyes’ last championship in 2014-2015 was the first season of the four-team playoff era.
As the Buckeyes now celebrate this victorious season, the next step is the offseason and now working hard to make it back to the championship next year!
