I’ve had this argument/ debate among my peers many a time. there were some heated disagreements and the same conclusion was drawn… Agree to disagree.
nevertheless, I feel I have to drop this one because as a baseball fan, it’s only right. Here are my top five MLB swings of all time!
5) Ichiro Suzuki: The brand new Hall of Famer was a threat at every at-bat. The well-rounded lefty was dangerous on every plate appearance and made opposing pitchers pay on the fastball low and away.
4) Tony Gwynn: “Mr. Padre” was that guy! A seven-time “Silver Slugger” award winner, Gwynn had a swing that was the stuff of legend. I mean come on… It’s “Mr. Padre”!!
3) Barry Bonds: Love him or hate him, he is the home run king. He literally knocked them out of the park on several occasions during his time at the plate. He’s the second lefty on this list, so obviously his swing is dubious.
2) Manny Ramirez: I may be biased on this one, but I don’t care. Manny played a big part in the Indians’ (now Guardians) success in the 90’s. That swing is one even opposing pitchers had to look at as it was heading toward the warning track. Gotta love Manny!
1) Ken Griffey Jr: We all have tried and failed to imitate that swing. Yet the innovator and originator of “The Swing” made it famous. If you played any of his video games during the 90’s you didn’t play with anyone but the Mariners. That swing is legendary, and the logo was awesome too! “It ain’t nifty, less it’s Griffey!”
You may disagree with this list, but one thing we all can agree on is that when these men were at the plate it was must-see TV!
