I think a lot of players just said what they needed to say to the media and not how they actually felt internally. I mean what is someone like Myles Garrett going to say? “Oh, yeah, I was so happy to see Deshaun get hurt. He’s horrible for the team!”
The debate on the fan base’s etiquette after the Deshaun Watson injury is very mixed. I wrote two articles that you can click below which you’ll certainly find interesting.
Will there be some players that took note of how fans behaved on Sunday in Cleveland?
Certainly.
Most likely, though, it’s not going to affect the choices made by those deciding on where to play in the future.
Here in sports, money talks. If the Browns offer a player the best deal, he’ll likely sign with Cleveland regardless. Luckily, this isn’t the MLB where there isn’t a salary cap. Thus, it’s a fair game for every team.
If a player’s real reason for not signing in Cleveland is because of the fan’s behavior, well that’s silly. Just take a look around the league and you’ll see that in every stadium there are terrible people representing each team.
If the best contract is offered to a player, he should sign in Cleveland regardless of what happened with Watson this past week.
Honestly, the Browns have a lot of other issues within this organization besides its fan base that would prevent a player from signing.
-Ownershp
-Coaching Staff
-Previous Losing Season
-The city not being like a Los Angeles or New York type of place to play.
The list goes on and it’s tough thinking about the future of this franchise for many years to come.
Remember, the season isn’t over yet. I don’t mean that in a way of thinking this team still has a chance to win anything this year.
Yeah, right.
What I mean is that this story will die down with time and fans win end up being more focused on the continuous losing that is likely to come for the rest of the year. Players will be the same way throughout the league.
We’ll get to the offseason and see what the team is able to do in regards to acquiring new pieces to the puzzle. Either via trade or free agency too.
To those picked in the draft: Well, you’re stuck with us!
