Looking at favorite songs from 2024 to get you the three hours into Wolverine territory.
It’s another away day for Land-Grant Holy Land Wednesday. That’s when the site hits the road for the trip north to cover the No. 9 Ohio State women’s basketball team’s trip to face the No. 25 Michigan Wolverines.
A trek to Ann Arbor, Michigan is like many trips in Ohio: a lot of fields and small towns. To get you there, Land-Grant has a playlist for you — at least for part of the trip.
On the court, the matchup features highly rated freshmen in both programs, so this playlist only features songs that came out in 2024. New songs to go with a game full of new stars like Ohio State’s Jaloni Cambridge and Michigan’s Syla Swords.
Now, these aren’t the top listened to songs of the year, or the ones that made the most money. No, it’s the songs the Land-Grant women’s basketball beat writer likes the most.
It’s a cornucopia of different genres that includes indie, dance, alternative, rap and folk. The playlist is best played on shuffle, so each song is a surprise, and because there was no order imagined when putting it together.
Some highlights include hardcore tracks from Knocked Loose and Poppy, but not the single “Suffocate” that features both artists. Think of the havoc and pace of the Buckeyes’ full court press, but in music form.
There’s also Midwest representation with Detroit’s Jack White or Humbird out of Minnesota. Plus a lot of country artists from the south.
The great thing about the playlist is that a trip in a plane, train or car is required to listen.

If you have a different service, an app like SongShift is a great tool to transfer playlists from one service to another.
You can also listen to the Land-Grant WBB Podcast, which is on a short break until the end of the football season, or past episodes of “Uncut,” including the most recent women’s basketball episode featuring the full press conference following the Scarlet and Gray win over the Northwestern Wildcats.
Check back for more playlists for upcoming trips to State College, Bloomington, College Park, Indianapolis and more.
