Ohio State and Oregon are set to play one another in one of the biggest college football games of the 2024 season to date.
The two teams are ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the new AP Poll and this game could go a long way toward determining who wins the Big Ten. Both teams come into the matchup with identical 5-0 records.
Even though the game is still four days away, some media pundits are already giving their score predictions for it, including Brad Crawford and Chris Hummer. They both have Ohio State covering the 3.5-point spread.
“Remember how in 2021 Oregon went into Columbus and beat the Buckeyes? I expect Ohio State to return the favor. The Ducks are a good football team. But they have some issues along the offensive line, and I think this is type of setting where you see some of Dillon Gabriel’s offensive limitations. Ohio State, for its part, doesn’t have any notable holes to speak of. This is the week the nation sees that the Buckeyes are for real in 2024. They’re loaded. … Ohio State 31, Oregon 27,” Hummer wrote.
“I’m seeing tons of ‘where are college football’s elite teams’ takes this week on social media. Let’s wait until this game is played before we’re saying stuff like that. If the Buckeyes go into Autzen Stadium and handle business against Oregon, Ohio State should ascend to No. 1 in next week’s rankings and look borderline invincible through the first half of the campaign. This defense is elite and Dillon Gabriel’s recent play at quarterback for the Ducks has been a bit worrisome from a turnover standpoint. … Ohio State 31, Oregon 17,” Crawford wrote.
The winner of this game will get to 6-0 and stay in the top three of the AP Poll while the loser will drop to 5-1 and move down in the poll.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET.
