Even though Deion Sanders is happy at Colorado, that’s not stopping Stephen A. Smith from wanting Ohio State to hire him.
Ryan Day is still the head coach at Ohio State but that could change if the program loses to Tennessee at home this Saturday. That would cap off a disappointing season, especially since Ohio State lost to Michigan for a fourth straight year in November.
Still, Smith has made his case for OSU to hire Sanders as its next head coach.
“He brings that sizzle,” Smith said. “He pays for himself because of his popularity. It’s so huge. That’s what you’re looking for if you’re Ohio State. Ryan Day doesn’t do that for you.”
College football fans aren’t buying it.
“Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Colorado needs sizzle. Ohio State needs substance. I’ll pass,” one tweet read.
“Ohio State doesn’t need Deion Sanders,” another tweet read.
‘These people have obviously run out of things to talk about,” another tweet read.
“Stephen A wants to pound the table for Deion Sanders and nobody else. Does anybody else find how ridiculous that is?” another fan tweeted.
Sanders himself shot down a lot of speculation rumors recently on the “Pacman Jones Show.” He’s all-in with Colorado.
“I love where I am. I’m elated where I am. I’m happy where I am. I can’t wait to see what the future beholds where I am,” Sanders said on the “Pacman Jones Show,” (first transcribed by 247Sports). “I love Boulder, Colorado. I have every intention, every plan in the world to be coaching for the Colorado Buffs from here on. I want to finish here. I want to put my name on the mountains out there, I want to put my flag down in Colorado.”
Sanders is helping Colorado prepare for the Alamo Bowl against BYU on December 28. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET.
