ESPN’s computer model has updated its picks for the 2024 college football regular season following Week 1.
Ohio State, No. 2 in the country, blew out Akron on Saturday, winning 52-6. The Buckeyes struggled a bit early before breaking things open in the second half. Will Howard, the quarterback transfer from Ohio State, looked great, as did true freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Michigan, the reigning national champions, did not look very good. The Wolverines topped Fresno State, 30-10, starting a former walk-on at quarterback.
Will this be the year that Ohio State ends its three game losing streak to Michigan?
ESPN’s computer model, the Football Power Index, is growing even more confident in the Buckeyes’ chances against the Wolverines in late November.
According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Ohio State now has a 77.7 percent chance to beat Michigan in “The Game,” while the Wolverines have just a 22.3 percent chance of pulling off the upset.
Ohio State and Michigan are scheduled to meet in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, Nov. 30. The regular season finale will be kicking off at noon E.T. and airing on FOX.
It should be a great one.
