Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord was not-so-subtly mentioned in this week’s episode of “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants.”
This week’s episode showed the Giants’ pre-draft interview with former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. At one point during the interview, he was asked to break down a few throws from McCord.
Giants wide receivers coach Mike Groh had no trouble mocking McCord’s accuracy, or lack thereof, on one particular play.
“Obviously, you played with one of the best quarterbacks for a few years. How about you got a young guy who’s growing in the position? You beat a guy like this, got a chance for a touchdown, and he under-throws it,” Groh said. “What do you come back to the huddle saying to him?”
Harrison wasn’t going to take the bait from the Giants. He replied, “I don’t say anything to quarterbacks.”
Groh then double downed on his initial stance, telling Harrison, “I mean, that’s a [expletive] throw, right?”
Once again, Harrison avoided the trap. He actually put the blame on his shoulders rather than criticize one of his former teammates.
“I can make a play still,” the talented wideout said. “I will never say anything to the quarterback; always just blame myself because I was able to make the play.”
Here’s the moment where McCord “caught a stray” from the Giants:

Harrison deserves a lot of credit for the way he handled this interview.
As for the Giants, it feels fair to say they won’t have any interest in McCord when he eventually declares for the NFL Draft.
McCord transferred to Syracuse following the 2023 college football season. The hope is that he’ll reach his full potential in New York.
