After a decade in the NFL and plenty of accolades to his name, Pro Bowl center Corey Linsley is calling it a career.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Los Angeles Chargers president John Spanos has confirmed that Linsley will be released from the team with the expectation that he will be retiring.
“While he has taken his last snap in the NFL, Corey’s story is far from being written,” John Spanos said, via Pelissero.
A fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after a standout career at Ohio State, Linsley played for the Green Bay Packers until 2020, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2020 despite being limited to only 13 games.
Linsley subsequently signed a five-year, $62.5 million contract with the Chargers in 2021, and rewarded the team by making the Pro Bowl and earning Second-Team All-Pro honors that year.
He was an elite pass blocker during his three seasons with the Chargers, not allowing a single sack during his entire run with the team and enjoying a streak of 1,572 snaps without giving up one – going back all the way to 2020.
Sadly, Linsley has been plagued by health issues recently and was limited to only three games last season due to a reported heart issue.
We wish Linsley all the best in his future endeavors.
