LeBron James appears to be as mad as most Ohio State fans about losing to Oregon.
On Saturday night, the Buckeyes dropped a 32-31 thriller to the Ducks at Autzen Stadium. Atticus Sappington, who missed a field goal in the first quarter, culminated an 11-play drive by draining the game-winner from 19 yards. Will Howard scrambled and slid in the middle of the field as time expired on an explosive matchup between new Big Ten foes.
James appeared to react to Ohio State’s loss on social media. The NBA superstar and longtime Buckeyes fan posted a GIF of the Anger character from Inside Out shouting so furiously that flames shot out of his head.
While LeBron related to Anger, other Ohio State fans are more in line with Sadness of suffering its first loss of the 2024 season or Fear of losing ground in the title hunt.
Saturday marked Ohio State’s first regular-season loss to a team other than Michigan since falling to Oregon early in the 2021 season. The outcome dropped the Buckeyes from No. 3 to 9 in the AP poll, and they later missed out on the College Football Playoff.
However, James and all other OSU supporters shouldn’t panic just yet. An expanded CFP field offers a bit more wiggle room, especially since many other perennial championship hopefuls also have a blemish on their record.
The Buckeyes can stay in the Big Ten title hunt by taking down Penn State on Nov. 2. Ryan Day’s squad first has an extra week to process Saturday’s loss and prepare for an Oct. 26 home game against Nebraska.
