Marvin Harrison Jr. left his mark on the Ohio State record books in his time in Columbus, particularly over his final two seasons.
Now heading into his rookie season with the Arizona Cardinals, Harrison was part of an interesting conversation while appearing on “The Trenches Show” recently.
Asked where he thought he rated all-time among Ohio State’s many great wide receivers, this year’s No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft didn’t hesitate.
“I think I’m the best,” Harrison said.
Harrison said his overall stats might not be quite on the level of past greats like Michael Jenkins and Cris Carter, who were able to start from day one on campus, but his per game stats measure up.
“Obviously, my two years, I did my thing,” Harrison continued. “Then, you look at the accolades: two-time [Big Ten] Receiver of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, unanimous All-American back-to-back years. I did it all.”
Harrison admitted that never beating Michigan would be the one thing people could use against him, though that is a “team accomplishment.”
“That’s why I think I’m the best, from an accolade and statistical standpoint,” Harrison said. “Obviously, talent-wise, we have some greats. Cris Carter is a Hall of Famer. I could never discredit him.”
The first wide receiver off the board in this year’s NFL Draft, Harrison will immediately become Kyler Murray’s top wideout in Arizona.
He’s also one of the top preseason candidates for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, along with Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and others.
