On Saturday afternoon the Nebraska Cornhuskers gave the Ohio State Buckeyes all they could handle.
Matt Rhule’s program had a chance to take the lead in the third quarter following an interception that had the Huskers on Ohio State’s seven yard line. Unfortunately, Nebraska wasn’t able to capitalize, something quarterback Dylan Raiola bemoaned after the game.
“Yeah, that’s definitely a drive that we wish we could have finished off,” Raiola said. “I think we had our best play called. We just came up a little short and that’s what it is right now. And we’ll make sure that we hit those plays coming in the future.”
That wasn’t his only post-game comment though.
Late in the fourth quarter Ohio State’s Arvell Reese was flagged for targeting and after review was ejected from the contest. The flag gave Nebraska new life with time winding down – and Ohio State fans weren’t happy with it.
They launched trash onto the field, which rubbed Raiola the wrong way. “The bottles being thrown is just, I don’t know, it kind of feels like it disrespects football and the nature of it,” he said after the game.
Once committed to Ohio State during his days as a five-star recruit, Raiola clearly wasn’t happy with how Buckeyes fans conducted their business on Saturday afternoon.
