The Ohio State coaching staff traveled all across the country on Monday to visit with some of the nation’s top recruits.
Ohio State now holds claim as the winners of the first ever College Football Playoff as well as the newly expanded College Football Playoff. This group of Buckeyes was held to the highest of standards entering the season, and there were multiple times throughout the season where it looked like the team would not meet those.
However, when it mattered most, Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to beat Notre Dame and are the National Champions.
With the close of the season brings the start of the offseason. Many of the headlines surrounding the team will focus on Ohio State’s roster attrition, and who all will return for another season or forgo in favor of the NFL Draft. The Buckeyes are also already looking to add to the roster for next season through both the transfer portal and traditional recruiting tactics.
On Monday, the Ohio State coaching staff hit the recruiting trail head on, and traveled to all parts of the country to visit with some of the nation’s top recruits. Below are just some of the recruits that Ohio State visited with on Monday.
Four-star CB Elbert Hill
Class: 2026
Hometown: Akron, OH / Archbishop Hoban
Size: 5-foot-10 / 175 lbs.
Ohio State has long been recruiting Hill, as he is one of Ohio’s best recruits in the class. Being from Ohio, the interest appears to be mutual and the Buckeyes have to like their chances in his recruitment.
However, Ohio State is not alone, and teams like Alabama, USC, Oregon, Tennessee and others are also interested in him and are legitimate contenders for him. Hill attended the Ohio State National Championship celebration on Sunday, which is a massive recruiting tool for the Buckeyes.

Four-star OT Adam Guthrie
Class: 2026
Hometown: Washington Court House, OH / Miami Trace
Size: 6-foot-7 / 285 lbs.
Like Hill, Guthrie is another Ohio recruit Ohio State has been interested for some time. Guthrie was able to visit with the Buckeyes for his first Ohio State gameday experience for the Iowa game, and he left Columbus with an official scholarship offer. He also made a return trip over the weekend for the National Championship celebration.
Ohio State is not alone in recruiting him, as teams like Penn State, Clemson, Michigan, Georgia, etc. are also in the mix.
Big thanks to Coach Frye for stopping out to talk with Adam. Big things in store for this young man!@AdamGuthrie21 @OhioStateFB pic.twitter.com/P9y4moU1PY

Three-star TE Colby Simpson
Class: 2026
Hometown: Westlake Village, CA / Oaks Christian
Size: 6-foot-5 / 222 lbs.
Ohio State and Simpson do not have nearly the established relationship that the Buckeyes do with the aforementioned Hill and Guthrie. However, Ohio State offensive coordinator made sure to find time Monday to visit with Simpson and watch him work out.
There is definitely interest from Ohio State, so expect the Buckeyes to try and get him on campus for a workout this offseason for a recruiting camp.
#GoBucks Appreciate Ohio State OC Chip Kelly for coming to watch me workout! @oclionsfootball @Malikcyphers @CoachC_C pic.twitter.com/3Nb2szcSxm

Four-star QB Peyton Falzone
Class: 2026
Hometown: Nazareth, PA / Nazareth
Size: 6-foot-4.5 / 200 lbs.
Falzone committed to Virginia Tech in June of last year. However, just a few months later, Falzone saw his recruitment take off and he decided to rescind his commitment. Ohio State is still looking for its signal caller for the 2026 recruiting cycle, but the Buckeyes are definitely interested in having Falzone take that job.
He last visited with Ohio State mere days before the announcement of his decommitment from Virginia Tech, but he is also being heavily recruited by the likes of Utah, Iowa, Penn State, Iowa, Rutgers, etc. It is worth mentioning that he talked about returning to Ohio State in the spring.
It was great getting to visit with @CoachFess from @OhioStateFB today! I’m looking forward to getting on campus this spring and meeting with @ryandaytime, Coach Kelly, @CoachRLarkin pic.twitter.com/2b3JMenNbm

Five-star WR commit Chris Henry Jr.
Class: 2026
Hometown: Santa Ana, CA / Mater Dei
Size: 6-foot-5 / 205 lbs.
Chris Henry Jr. verbally committed to Ohio State in November of 2023. Despite the early commitment, many of the nation’s top college football programs have continued recruiting Henry Jr., as is to be expected. While this has led to numerous rumors surrounding a decommitment, Henry Jr. has only ever said his commitment to the Buckeyes is solid and there is no reason to not believe him.
If he were to ever express sentiment towards a de-commitment, Buckeye Nation would have great reason to worry, as he has the potential to be the next great Ohio State wide receiver and is the centerpiece of the Buckeyes 2026 recruiting class.
Thank you NATIONAL CHAMPIONS @OhioStateFB @brianhartline & Chip Kelly for stopping by this morning! |/ #WeAreMD #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/fLRJo1S1Qi
