For the fourth season in a row, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day came up short against Michigan.
Ohio State was heavily favored coming into this game for a plethora of reasons. It had more talent on its roster, a better quarterback and more momentum on its side. And yet, none of that mattered. Once again, Day proved that he’s not built for the moment, coaching a conservative offense that took minimal risk all game long.
With that being said, Day has to officially be on the hot seat. Heck, fans around the country are already saying he should be fired on the spot.
“Ryan Day deserves to be fired,” one fan tweeted.
Another fan said, “Ryan Day, Chip Kelley, and Jim Knowles all NEED TO BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
“Ryan Day and Chip need to get fired before they hit the locker room. That was perhaps the worst game I have watched the buckeyes play in 45 years. Just an abomination form a spoiled, entitled and unprepared team,” an Ohio State fan said.
“It’s just laughable at this point. If Ryan Day does not get fired then it will be a travesty. Year over year he has clearly proven he can’t coach a team to important win,” a fourth fan commented.
Coming into this weekend, Day talked about losing to Michigan and how it stings.
“It’s one of the worst things that’s happened to me in my life, quite honestly,” Day said. “Other than losing my father and a few other things, it’s quite honestly for my family, the worst thing that’s happened.”
Welp.
Ohio State probably won’t be making any coaching changes yet since the College Football Playoff is still in reach. However, this was a brutal loss for Day.
If Day can’t lead Ohio State on a run in the CFP, he could find himself coaching elsewhere in 2025. That’s not an exaggeration.
