Ohio State offers 2026 Georgia running back, expect more guests on campus this weekend

The Buckeyes sends out their latest offer to a four-star running back.

Hearing Ryan Day and some of the players talk this week, Penn State is now in the rear view mirror and the focus is on Purdue. A one-game-at-a-time process for this team from now on, it’s good to see the goals for this program are still out in front of them, and each test from here on will be a measuring stick to see if they’re on the right path.

A home game this weekend once again brings the opportunity for recruiting, and as the momentum with this team continues on, the staff will look to do the same off the field as well. Maybe not the loaded guest list a primetime matchup would allow, this Saturday will still see several prospects flock to Columbus.

2026 running back lands OSU offer

It’s been talked about time and time again how this staff is always in evaluation mode. Never stopping their efforts looking for elite players, Ohio State sending out offers this often shows coaches are really trying to make sure they leave no stone unturned. Signing day for the 2025 class is getting closer, and 2026 continues to see it’s importance increase.

On Wednesday, the latest offer in the upcoming class was made on the offensive side of the ball. Making their presence known in the Peach State on Wednesday, the Buckeyes and position coach Carlos Locklyn dished out an offer to Georgia native, Jae Lamar (Moultie, Georgia/Colquitt County), who already has an impressive resume.

A 6-foot, 205 pound athlete, Lamar is currently the No. 191 player nationally and 14th best running back in the 2026 class per the 247Sports Composite. Double-digit offers to his name and from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Missouri, Tennessee, and others, it’s no surprise to see Ohio State also join the mix as the next school in line to have heavy interest in the four-star target.

Thus far, the Buckeyes have offered double-digit running backs in the 2026 class, and hope to land at least two at the position before all is said and done. Casting a bit of a wider net with Locklyn, the staff is hoping they’ll have better odds at getting their top priorities. Now the focus for Lamar is making sure they can get him on campus in the near future to see all that Ohio State has to offer.

What doesn’t hurt the Buckeyes at all is their success in Georgia when it comes to recruiting, but more importantly the real-life examples of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, who are among the top players in the country at their position having success within Ohio State’s offense. Recruits have to take notice of the star-power on this roster, and when you can present the facts in a positive way like a two-headed monster which this team has, surely that has to mean something.
