Camdin Portis, the son of former NFL running back Clinton Portis, announced Tuesday that he received a scholarship offer from Ohio State.
The class of 2026 cornerback revealed that the Buckeyes made him an offer following “a great camp.” He also received an offer from Akron on Tuesday, adding to a growing list of suitors that includes Tennessee, Auburn, and Missouri.
According to 247Sports, the three-star recruit is the No. 15 prospect in his class from North Carolina. As a sophomore at Myers Park High School, he recorded two interceptions and 10 pass break-ups.
Cooper Petagna identified Portis as one of the top performers at last month’s Under Armour Next Camp. The 247Sports scout declared that the young defensive back is “well on his way to making a name for himself.”
“Best described as an ‘efficient mover,’ Portis’ combination of patience, suddenness and short area change of direction are very well suited as a man-to-man defender,” Petagna wrote. “Although the physical traits pop, Portis’ coverage instincts and ability to play the ball in the air are areas of his game that are well beyond his peers.”
His father scored 23 touchdowns in three seasons for the Miami Hurricanes before starting a successful NFL career. The two-time Pro Bowler and 2002 Offensive Rookie of the Year exceeded 1,000 rushing yards in six of his first seven seasons.
Camdin’s brother, Chaz, is also a high school wide receiver in the class of 2026. They’re both taking different paths to follow in Clinton’s footsteps.
