As if trailing early to Michigan wasn’t bad enough, Ohio State nearly lost starting quarterback Will Howard to an injury.
During the second quarter of “The Game,” Howard tried to pick up the first down with his legs when he got leveled by Michigan defensive back Makari Paige. It was a violent hit that nearly silenced the entire crowd at Ohio Stadium. After absorbing the brunt of it, Howard laid on the floor for an extended period of time.
It was a legal hit from Paige since he led with his shoulder. That being said, there are plenty of fans concerned about Howard’s health since he got hit in the head.
“Oh my god what a HIT on Will Howard. Thats not good,” a fan wrote.
“What a stop !! But hope Will Howard is ok , I don’t like injuries to these kids no matter what team it is,” another fan said.

Howard came into this Saturday’s game with 2,685 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also has 121 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
If he’s unable to return in this game and play at his level, that’d be a huge blow to Ohio State’s offense and potentially outlook for the College Football Playoff.
Devin Brown replaced Howard at quarterback for the Buckeyes for a quick play. The former four-star recruit from Utah won’t have a chance to show what he can do though since Howard is cleared.
We’re still waiting for an official word on Howard’s injury.
This year’s installment of “The Game” is once again being televised on FOX.
