Michigan native Dakota Guerrant will be on campus this weekend to see the Buckeyes.
With Ohio State set to host Marshall for the last of its non-conference slate, it’s another home game and opportunity for this staff to host recruits from all over the country. Maybe not the most sought after matchup, the Buckeyes still bringing in top talent that will get to see firsthand what it’s like to be part of a game day in The Shoe.
A visitor list that has continued to grow all week, once again Thursday saw another new name pop up — and from enemy territory, too.
Michigan native in town to see Ohio State this weekend
Though it’s not a major trek to Columbus for the Michigan native, Ohio State getting anyone down from the state up north is a major win for the program, especially when the athlete is coveted by the in-state schools. Set to arrive on Saturday for the Marshall game, Harper Woods product Dakota Guerrant will be on-hand to see what the Buckeyes are all about on this unofficial visit.
A 6-foot-1, 185 pound athlete, Guerrant is currently the No. 29 player nationally, the fifth best receiver, and second ranked player in Michigan for the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite. Coming from a program that knows success after winning a state championship last year, Guerrant is not only being coached well for his prep program, but he’s playing deep into the year gaining those extra reps early after only just being in his sophomore season.
Having an Ohio State offer under his belt already, this trip to campus is one where position coach Brian Hartline will certainly go out of his way to see that his time is well spent. Seeing the development he offers in real time surely won’t hurt the chances the Buckeyes have at making this a lasting impression to one of the up and coming top receivers in the country.
Well over 20 other schools to throw their name into the mix, it won’t be easy to pull a Michigan player out of enemy territory, but if there’s one aspect the Buckeyes have going for them more than anyone else, it’s development, production, and a proven track record of success at the position under Hartline.
I will be at The Ohio State this weekend!!

Quick Hits
- A prep in-state program Ohio State is more than familiar with, Huber Heights Wayne has given the Buckeyes several players over the years — and ones to remember at that. A school that continues to produce D1 caliber talent each year, it’s been a couple of cycles now since Ohio State landed one of their players, but the staff is hoping that’s soon to change.
In the 2027 class, Wayne product Jamier Brown is already seeing his recruiting process blow up in a good way. The No. 6 player nationally and second-best receiver in the class per the 247Sports Composite, Ohio State offered back in June of this year, but Thursday alone saw Brown announce multiple new offers that had come in.
Hearing from Auburn, Miami, Missouri, Texas A&M, and USF this week, this is further proof that Ohio State has to keep this one close to the top of their priority list. Fortunately, as previously mentioned already, having Hartline is many times all the Buckeyes need to win out with this position group.
Keeping Brown at home is going to take some work, but if Hartline is in Columbus, it’s hard to imagine this isn’t the next Wayne Warrior that chooses the scarlet and gray.
