This is what makes big time college football exciting, rooting for the school where you went to college or the school that you grew up rooting for or the school you are just a fan of just because.
In my opinion, whether or not the Buckeyes would have won or lost, Saturday night’s game was a lot more fun than watching your team win by 53 points over a team that they were supposed to beat by 53 points!
So let’s talk about how the Buckeyes won Saturday night’s game against Notre Dame.
With Notre Dame winning 14-10, the Fighting Irish punted the ball to the Bucks with 1:36 left in the game.
The Bucks then took over possession of the ball at their own 35 with 1:26 left in the game.
Trailing 14-10 with 2 time outs, Buckeyes fans may have been wondering if the season was on the line?
Probably not, but thinking that certainly made the moment exciting as a fan.
So the Bucks get the ball with 1:26 left. Incomplete. Second Down. Incomplete. Third down.
Have I seen this before recently I think to myself?
The Buckeyes then completed a huge 3rd and 10 pass as Kyle McCord and Emeka Egbuka connected for 23 yards.
The Buckeyes now had the ball at the Notre Dame 42 yard line with 1:06 left in the game.
The Buckeyes then gained three yards on the next two plays and Notre Dame called a timeout with 39 seconds left.
OSU was now faced with a third down and 7 at the Notre Dame 39. McCord then threw an incomplete pass leading to a 4th and 7.
Is this it I think to myself?
Kyle McCord then completed a clutch 4th and 7 pass to Julian Fleming who got exactly seven yards on the play to move the chains.
After McCord threw an incomplete pass on first down he found Marvin Harrison open for a 19-yard completion.
The Buckeyes now had the ball at the Notre Dame 13 yard line with 22 seconds left.
After two incompletions, Ohio State called a timeout with fifteen seconds left in the game.
Now things are getting very interesting. This is why we love watching football! This is why we love watching sports!
So now the Buckeyes had 3rd and 19 with 15 seconds left.

Kyle McCord connected with Egbuka for a 21-yard gain down to the one yard line.
After McCord ran to the line and spiked the ball, the clock stopped with seven seconds left. Notre Dame then called a timeout.
The excitement has now hit fever pitch!
Second Down. Incomplete. Ugh.
Three seconds left. Oh my. This is it. Touchdown!!!!
Bucks Win! Bucks Win!

After the game, Trayanum talked about his game winning touchdown.
“I knew I was definitely in,” said Trayanum. “It was close, but as a running back you live for runs like that. This feeling is still surreal, but it’s definitely a good Buckeye win to go into the bye week.”
In his post-game comments, Buckeyes head Coach Ryan Day commented on McCord leading the Buckeyes to victory.
“You judge a quarterback on third downs, the red zone, and two minute,” Day said. “To win the game in a two minute drill, that’s what great quarterbacks do. And for his first top ten road game to be put in that situation and come through says a lot about his future.”
Added Kyle McCord, “We practice those two minute situations all the time. My job is to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers and let them do special things. And that’s exactly what it was.”
Overall, McCord had a very good game. McCord was 21/38 for 240 yards.
Leading the receivers for the Buckeyes were Emeka Egbuka (7-96) Cade Stover (7-52), and Marvin Harrison (3-32)
On the ground the Buckeyes were led by TreVeyon Henderson (14 carries, 104 yards and a touchdown).
After the Buckeyes led 3-0 at the half, TreVeyon Henderson scored on a 61 yard touchdown to give the Buckeyes a 10-0 lead with 11:14 remaining in the third quarter.

Notre Dame then scored a touchdown in the third quarter and another touchdown with 8:22 left in the game, the Buckeyes would not regain the lead until there was one second left in the game.
With the victory, the Buckeyes move to 4-0 on the season entering the bye week.
The Buckeyes return to Action on Saturday, October 7 when they host Maryland at the Horseshoe.
