Ohio State’s No. 2 overall recruit in the 2025 class has made his commitment decision clear after Saturday’s loss to Michigan.
The Buckeyes fell to the Wolverines, 13-10, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. It’s the fourth straight loss in The Game for Ryan Day. Day is now 1-4 against Michigan and 47-1 against all other conference opponents. Day is being ripped for his performance, both on and off of the field.
“Everybody wants to win this game in the worst way, and nobody wants to win it more than we do. It’s our No. 1 goal every year,” Day said. “And so when you don’t do that, there’s disappointment and frustration. And so, I don’t blame anybody for being upset. I’m upset more than anybody. And those players are too, and the coaches and everybody that goes at it. We know what we’re getting ourselves into here.”
Day added: “Obviously extremely disappointed and angry that we didn’t execute well enough. This is not easy to accept, and obviously have to take the ownership. I’m the one ultimately that makes the final decisions on things. I felt like we were in a really good place coming into this game.”
But while times are tough in Columbus, reinforcements are coming (though talent wasn’t really the issue in 2024 – or any year at Ohio State).
Devin Sanchez, a five-star cornerback and the No. 5 overall player in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, made it clear postgame that he’s still pledged to Ryan Day and Ohio State.
“you pick that side stay on that side.💯🤝🏽,” he wrote postgame, sharing a photo with Ohio State cornerbacks coach Tim Walton.

Sanchez, a 6-foot-2 cornerback from Houston, Texas, could be an instant impact player for the Buckeyes in 2025. He could start right away as a true freshman, like Jeremiah Smith has done on the offensive side of the football.
Ohio State is still in line to make the College Football Playoff, so perhaps the Buckeyes can right the ship heading into 2025.
Day’s recruiting class ranks No. 3 in the country.
