Last weekend the Ohio State Buckeyes took down the Nebraska Cornhuskers, which set up a top-five showdown between the Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions.
The Buckeyes avoided an upset against the Huskers, who didn’t make it easy on head coach Ryan Day’s team. Starting quarterback Will Howard knows the Huskers gave them everything they could handle.
“It wasn’t perfect, but a win’s a win,” Howard said after the game. “And we were able to show that when the going gets tough, and when maybe things aren’t going our way, we’re able to win in the fourth quarter. I think our defense did an unbelievable job of getting some stops, making some really big plays in that fourth quarter and getting us a chance to go down there and put that last one in and give us the lead.”
Now, Day and company are focused on a looming battle with No. 3 Penn State.
Perhaps a bit too focused.
The Buckeyes head coach apparently had no idea today is Halloween – and didn’t know the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees to win the World Series.
“Until you just said it, I had no idea that it’s Halloween,” Day told reporters.

Day went on to say that he knows what Ohio State did at practice, but that’s about it. He’s not the only one with an eye on Saturday.
Ahead of the massive showdown with Penn State, Will Howard issued a stern warning.
“Stoked, stoked, I cannot wait,” Howard said when asked about the Buckeyes’ next foe. “It’s gonna be a homecoming for me. Grew up a Penn State fan, I wanted to go there my whole life, they didn’t think I was good enough, but I guess we’ll see next week if I was.”
Ohio State and Penn State kick off at 12:00 p.m. ET.
