DJ and Jordan review the 2024 college football season and discuss schools tampering with Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate.
Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s Power Two Podcast. On this show, we talk about Big Ten and SEC football…and everyone else. This show is for the die-hard fans and the casual college football fans.
After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the major matchups of the previous weekend and look ahead at the games, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week.
My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host DaNaysia Jones. Lock in as we run a power sweep through the college football landscape.
It is the first episode of the offseason! This week, Jordan and DJ extensively discuss tampering. Many athletes who have had successful years in college football are receiving calls and monetary offers from some big-name programs. This could be considered tampering, especially when athletes from “smaller” schools get calls from bigger schools with more resources.
But is it really tampering if athletes are moving from one school with a large budget to another? There may be more cultural implications if an athlete decides to go from Alabama to Georgia, when both schools would arguably be able to provide similar funds and experiences. DJ and Jordan share their candid thoughts on tampering and what this could mean for the college football landscape moving forward.
In the news, Jordan shares some coach’s hirings instead of our usual firings. There may be some potential movement for coaches on the Ohio State staff, specifically Jim Knowles and Chip Kelly. Al Golden landed an NFL gig with the Bengals, and Tom Allen is moving on to Clemson.
In the two-minute drill, DJ and Jordan briefly preview the NFC and AFC championship games. They share very strong opinions about the Bills and Chiefs matchup and who they want to see in the Super Bowl. They also take a moment to discuss Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ success over the last year.
In the post-season power sweep, Jordan and DJ share their final thoughts on the 2024 college football season. DJ is now a full-blown college football fan thanks to doing this show and her finally paying attention to teams other than her own. Jordan was pleased with the new playoff format, being a champion, of course, and all the instant classics we saw this year.
In the two-minute warning, Jordan discusses the first female soccer player to get a $1 million transfer fee, Naomi Girma. DJ shares how important women’s sports are and how exciting the first two weeks of Unrivaled Basketball have been.
