Another top five game, another top five loss for Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day.
Ohio State fell to Oregon, 32-31, in Eugene on Saturday night. The Buckeyes had the ball late, but quarterback Will Howard failed to get down in time, reminiscent of the Dallas Cowboys’ last-second loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2022 NFC Wild Card Game, when Dak Prescott scrambled and slid, but couldn’t get a snap off to stop the clock. The Buckeyes dropped to 5-1 on the season with the loss, but very much remain in the College Football Playoff hunt heading into the second half of the Big Ten regular season.
Following the game, Ohio State’s head coach made a promise to his fan base.
Day has promised that the Buckeyes will flush this one, correct the mistakes they made and move forward.
“We could sit here and look at one play here or one play there or complain about a call, but we’re not gonna do that. We’re gonna own it. We gotta get it fixed,” he told reporters at Autzen Stadium following the last-second loss to the now-Big Ten rival Oregon.
Ohio State is off next weekend before returning to play Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 26.
That should be a good one.
