The 2025 NFL Draft is still over a month away but it appears a clear landing spot has emerged for Ohio State quarterback Will Howard.
Throughout the draft process, Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders have been considered the top two quarterback prospects. There has also been some hype surrounding Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss and Jalen Milroe from Alabama, albeit the latter isn’t projected to be a first-round pick.
Despite his inconsistent performance at the NFL Combine, Howard has apparently surged up draft boards. To be fair, his dual-threat capabilities and his leadership skills were on full display this past season.
On Saturday, ESPN analyst Todd McShay mentioned the best possible suitor for Howard.
With Geno Smith taking over as the starring quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, McShay would like to see Howard learn from the veteran.
“Also, Don’t be surprised to see a couple things from LV on draft weekend: RB Jeanty at 6. And QB Will Howard reuniting with Chip Kelly as a Day 2 pick,” McShay wrote on X.
Howard would be a great fit for the Raiders since he has experience playing in Chip Kelly’s system. During his only season at Ohio State, he completed 73.1 percent of his passes for 4,010 yards with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He played his best football when it mattered most, leading the Buckeyes to four straight wins in the College Football Playoff.
NFL legend Kurt Warner recently analyzed Howard’s tape. He had nothing but good things to say about the Ohio State product.
“Been watching the last 4 games for top NFL Draft QBs & Will Howard had the BEST 4 game stretch of any QB I’ve watched so far – and it really wasn’t even that close!! Great throws, consistent accuracy, downfield throws, good reads, multiple concepts, etc…” Warner wrote on X.
Most analysts have projected Howard to be a Day 2 pick. If he ends up in Las Vegas, he’ll get to learn a thing or two from Tom Brady.
