Even though Ohio State quarterback Will Howard watched a lot of Penn State growing up, that doesn’t mean he didn’t occasionally watch some Ohio State games.
Howard watched some OSU games while he was growing up and recently revealed who his favorite OSU quarterback was during that time.
“I would say the one that I watched probably the most was J.T. (Barrett), that was right within my middle school, and high school years. I was like, ‘Man, this dude’s a baller,” Howard said, (first transcribed by On3).
Barrett played at Ohio State from 2014-17 and helped the program win a national title as a freshman. He finished that 2014 season completing 64.6% of his passes for 2,834 yards through the air, 34 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
He ended his career with 9,434 passing yards, 104 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions.
Ohio State’s had a lot of great quarterbacks lately, from C.J. Stroud to Justin Fields to the late Dwayne Haskins to Braxton Miller to Cardale Jones. Barrett was a winner, though, and holds some all-time Buckeyes passing records.
Howard is now trying to write his own story and so far, he’s having a great season, throwing for 1,248 yards, 12 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He’s led the Buckeyes to a 5-0 record to start the season but will face his toughest test yet this Saturday against the Oregon Ducks.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC/Peacock.
