Ohio State quarterback Will Howard is taking heat for his behavior on the field following his team’s loss to Oregon on Saturday evening.
The Buckeyes fell to the Ducks, 32-31, on Saturday night. Howard and his offense drove into Oregon territory late, but were unable to come away with points, as the Ducks held on for the win. Ohio State had a first down on Oregon’s 28-yard line, but freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was called for an offensive pass interference penalty, pushing the Buckeyes back. A couple of plays later, Howard slid too late, as the clock ran out, giving the Ducks the win.
Howard was extremely frustrated on the field following the game. He was seen yelling at a photographer to get out of his way.
Howard is taking heat for what he yelled at the photographer on Saturday night.
“Will Howard screaming at a camera man (that looks to be an Oregon student with the media team?) is pathetic. You lost kid. Walk off field, don’t go around screaming like a child at people that are trying to do their job. Embarrassing for Ohio State,” one fan wrote.
Howard, meanwhile, remains confident in the Buckeyes. He had a message for the fan base on Saturday night.
“I hope it lights a little fire under us, man, because I still have all the belief in the world in this team,” he said. “(Oregon) is a good football team. I don’t think they necessarily beat us. I think we beat ourselves a little bit. I think we left some stuff out there that we got to learn from and get better because of.
“I think this is a good team. We’re gonna see them again. The message has to be we have to grow from this and learn from this. This obviously isn’t how you want to do it, but you know, you can’t let them beat you twice.”
Ohio State dropped to 5-1 on the year with the loss to Oregon at Autzen Stadium. The Buckeyes will look to bounce back in two weeks against Nebraska.
