Guardians 3, Pirates 0
After a disappointing end to a trip to Baltimore, the Guardians have bounced back in the best way possible, beating Paul Skenes and the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 3-0 shutout.
Ben Lively threw 5 and 1/3rd scoreless innings, escaping the sixth by the skin of his teeth and a well-timed Cade Smith double-play ball. Smith, Tim Herrin, Hunter Gaddis and Emmanuel Clase secured the shutout, with an assist from a heads-up play from José Ramírez to get a leadoff tripling Enmanuel Valdez when he raised his hand off the bag to call for time.
Just goes to show you’ll see something you’ve never seen before every time you watch a baseball game.
It was great to see Nolan Jones finally get some good results for some hard hits as he went 2-4 with a double and a walk, Steven Kwan got a clutch RBI single:
Kyle Manzardo hit one in the river:
Kyle ambushing the first pitch really robbed us of Hammy calling a river run.

and Angel Martinez continues to look like someone who should play everyday. Jose also added a single and a sac fly.
This feels like a big win against possibly the best pitcher in MLB and the Guardians will now have a chance to sweep the series behind Logan Allen as they take on Mitch Keller on Easter Sunday if the weather holds out. A nice, crisp game tonight and a great way to head into the holiday for Guardians fans.
