In case you missed it, the Guardians traded Josh Naylor to the Arizona Diamondbacks for 25 year-old RHP Slade Cecconi and a 2025 compensatory B draft pick. They then signed Carlos Santana for reportedly the same salary number as Naylor was due.
Terry Pluto says this trade is because Josh Naylor gained a lot of weight and Jose Ramirez loves Carlos Santana. Paul Hoynes says Cecconi will come to camp as a starter and also compete for a bullpen job.
Mandy Bell has a nice piece on Guardians’ bench coach Craig Albernaz.
