News and Notes for Thursday, April 10th, 2025.
The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox in game two of the three game series. José Ramírez scored from third on a wild pitch, Austin Hedges walked twice and stole a base, and Carlos Santana hit another early April homer. During the game, not one but two White Sox players were injured, including the final out. White Sox right fielder Mike Tauchman rounded third to try and score the game tying run when he pulled up last minute with an obvious leg injury. Austin Hedges applied the tag to end the game. A win is a win, but no one wants to win like that. Paul Sewald had another great outing, earning the win and setting Emmanuel Clase up for his first save of the season. Read the full game recap here.
The Guardians look to sweep the White Sox today. First pitch is at 1:10 PM EDT with Gavin “Big Rig” Williams taking the mound for the Guards.
Prior to last night’s game, Angel Martínez was recalled from AAA Columbus and Johnathan Rodriguez was sent down to make room on the 26-man. Martínez has been hitting very well in Columbus so far this year. In 32 AB, Martínez has recorded 11 hits, 7 runs, and 8 RBIs. His slash line for the Clippers reads .344/.324/.855 and he has been getting plenty of work around the field defensively. In his eight games played so far this season, Martínez has started two games at second, two in left, and four in center. With Lane Thomas potentially needing a few more days rest after getting hit on the wrist, Angel’s versatility and lively bat will be a welcomed addition to the roster.
During Tuesday’s home opener, the Guardians unveiled a fourth hotdog mascot: Spicy Mustard. Going forward Spicy will be joining her fellow hotdogs during the home game hotdog races.
A staple in Cleveland for over 90 years! Etched in the DNA of our history and traditions! She is…….

College baseball continues to be an enjoyable, chaotic mess. An Ole Miss baserunner scored on a pick off attempt at first where the ball never left the infield.
This dude scored on a pickoff to first base!
No overthrows, no errors and the ball doesn’t leave the infield.
