News and Notes for Tuesday, April 15th, 2025
Today, the Guardians will join all MLB teams in wearing the number 42 to honor the day Jackie Robinson (who wore 42) broke MLB’s color barrier in 1947.
Interestingly enough, Robinson was not just a great player and a US veteran, he was a firm advocate for racial equality who pointed out issues with systemic racism in United States society which continue to impact us 78 years later, thus players will also be wearing shirts saying “Breaking Barriers.” The more you know!
The Guardians will play the Orioles tonight at 7:05PM EDT, in a pitching duel between Logan Allen and Charlie Morton.
Effectively Wild Podcasts have started doing some long-form journalism and they have a great episode out about the first woman sportswriter, Ellen Black. Check it out here.
Speaking of pods, Jim Rosenhaus interviewed Steven Kwan, Ben Lively and Sandy Alomar Jr. on Saturday’s Guardians Weekly episode.
AROUND MLB:
The Tigers won again and they look good. The Twins lost again and they look bad.
The Padres have started the season 11-0 at home, so the Guards aren’t the only team to have trouble solving them there.
