Beloved titular host of the 90’s hit science educational TV program Bill Nye the Science Guy joined MLB Network on their show Hot Stove. When asked who he was predicting to win the World Series in 2025 he, will little hesitation, predicted the Cleveland Guardians. Being a chemist by trade might make me biased towards a fellow STEM member, but who can argue with a literal engineer. Put in your November PTO now, we’ll have a parade to attend.

It looks like at least a couple of the off season trades worked out in the Front Office’s favor. The Pirates organization announced today that Spencer Horwitz will be missing six to eight weeks due to a procedure on his wrist. Horwitz was obtained by the Guardians in the trade with Toronto that sent Andrés Giménez and Nick Sandlin to the Blue Jays. Horwitz was immediately flipped to the Pirates for RHP Luis Ortiz. With pitching being the target all off season, picking up Ortiz was a welcomed breath of potential, but many fans were disappointed that veteran Alex Cobb was allowed to walk. Cobb signed with the Tigers on a one-year, $15 million dollar contract. The Tigers announced today that Cobb will be missing at least a month with hip inflammation. Here’s to hoping more of the off season moves pan out. Surely there is at least one more signing in the pipeline. An impactful LHH outfield bat, maybe?
The front office has signed another middle infielder to a minor league contract.

Spring Training starts Saturday, February 22nd at 3:05 PM ET. Now that the details of the CLEGuardians.tv broadcast rights have been ironed out, the Spring Training broadcast has been released. As usual, a handful of games will be broadcast in both video and radio, but a few will be left to choppy cell phone videos posted on social media and box score watching to fuel our Opening Day roster predictions. Included on the CLEG broadcast list is the Spring Breakout game between Guardians and Mariners prospects. The full broadcast schedule can be found here.
