News and Notes for Friday, December 6th, 2024
Winter Meetings begin in Nashville on Sunday night, December 8th. Surely, we will start to have a lot of MLB offseason news then. Surely.
Eric Samulski of RotoWorld talked to the Guardians’ manager Stephen Vogt on his podcast.
Guardians Insider provided a Winter Ball update for Guardians’ prospects.
MLB Pipeline went through the most interesting Rule 5 draft candidates from each MLB team here. Obviously, any left-handed outfielder or starting pitcher is of interest to me, but I can’t say any name stood out as clearly an improvement on the Guardians’ roster… but no one saw the Deyvison De Los Santos pick coming last year. The Rule 5 draft will take place on Wednesday, December 11th at 2pm. The Guardians currently have one empty roster spot.
The MLB draft lottery will take place at 5:30 EDT on Tuesday, December 10th. The Guardians have the 27th pick in the first round in 2025. They also have the first pick in comp round B.
I recommend subscribing to the Selby is Godcast podcast patreon. Zack Meisel had an excellent plea/rant for the Dolans to spend some more money on this Guardians’ roster.
Ken Rosenthal said the Guardians are open to listening to offers on Lane Thomas and Josh Naylor. He did not mention that they are open to listening to offers on everyone except probably Jose Ramirez because he has a no-trade clause. But, some other sites ran with it as big news. Not this one. The Guardians will listen and take offers for anyone, and there are ways trades for Thomas or Josh Naylor could help this team… they are unlikely, so I expect them both to be here on Opening Day. We will see!
