The Guardians have announced their 26-man Opening Day roster… minus ONE hitter.
The Guardians informed OF Will Brennan and RP Andrew Walters that they’re being sent to AAA.
That leaves the Opening Day roster finalized aside from the last position player spot, which Chris Antonetti said will likely be an internal addition. pic.twitter.com/kO5HQKXAhm

President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonnetti said they are considering mostly internal options, including recalling a player, but also external additions. So that really helps narrow things down. Will Wilson has had a nice little spring, but he’s not someone you want taking major league at-bats. Could be a placeholder for Angel Martinez or Juan Brito, though.
It’s interesting that Joey Cantillo made the bullpen. I wonder if this is a temporary thing or if the team is considering moving him to a relief role permanently. Andrew Walters likely needs more time to ramp up after a shoulder issue, so a reportedly reluctant Triston McKenzie will also try his hand at fixing his command issues in the bullpen.
We should hear news today or tomorrow about any other TV partners the Guardians will have for 2025 if past statements by the team are accurate.
The Guardians play their last exhibition game against the Diamondbacks at 3:05PM EDT today.
