Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Akron RubberDucks 4, Altoona Curve 3
Box Score: RubberDucks improve to 6-2
Akron pulled a rabbit out of its hat on Saturday, beating Altoona 4-3 despite being outhit 8-2. The good news was that Akron’s two hits were both triples. One was by Travis Bazzana, who went 1-for-3 with a walk.

The other came from equally hot C.J. Kayfus, who went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.

Both Bazzana and Kayfus scored on sacrifice flies after tripling, then Akron strung together four of the team’s five walks plus a hit by pitch in the seventh inning to help manufacture two more runs.
That was all the piggyback combination of Aaron Davenport and Trenton Denholm needed to secure the victory. Davenport was flat out sensational. He threw 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five and walking none.

Have a day Rafael Devers. The talented shortstop prospect missed the cycle by a triple, going 4-for-5 with a home run, double and two stolen bases.

Starting pitcher Jackson Humphries continued his spectacular start to the 2025 season and he appears fully settled in at High-A. Humphries pitched 4.0 shutout innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts and just one walk. It’s time we started taking more notice of this 20-year-old.

Lynchburg Hillcats 11, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 16
Lynchburg Hillcats 8, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 2
Game 1 Box Score ~ Game 2 Box Score: Hillcats move to 4-4
Lynchburg’s offense was firing on all cylinders on Saturday, scoring a whopping 19 runs in 14 innings of baseball during a double-header.
Tommy Hawke went 3-for-4 with a walk and three stolen bases in game one. Other standouts included Luis Mijares, who went 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch and a pair of RBIs. Yanki Jean-Baptiste went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and Bennett Thompson went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.
Starting pitcher Rafe Schlesinger allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits, three walks and three strikeouts in 3.0 innings. The real problem came when Logan McGuire entered the game. McGuire was absolutely obliterated for 11 runs (eight earned) on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout in his single inning of work, although he started the fifth inning and never got an out.
Game two was much better for Lynchburg as Welbyn Francisca went 2-for-4 while Jose Mercedes went 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Tommy Hawke went 1-for-3 with a walk and two more stolen bases, giving him five overall on the day.
Starting pitcher Jogly Garcia was straight up nasty, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in 4.0 innings while collecting a whopping nine strikeouts.
#ICYMI: 9 KKKKKKKKKs for Jogly García last night in Lynchburg’s 7-inning win
García only allowed 2 hits and 1 run in his 4.0 innings pitched and boasts a 1.29 ERA across 7.0 innings so far this season. The @LynHillcats defeated Kannapolis Cannon Ballers behind the pitching… pic.twitter.com/JzHY126kGB
