
Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Monday, April 14, 2025.
Columbus Clippers 4, Worcester Red Sox 8
Box Score: Clippers fall to 9-4
Columbus had just taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth inning when the Clippers bullpen gave it right back, allowing four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
The top performer of the day was Kody Huff, who went 2-for-3 with a walk. Milan Tolentino went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and scored two runs and Will Brennan went 2-for-5. Will Wilson reached base safely three times with three walks, two runs scored and a stolen base.
The other big hit came from Juan Brito, who went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and also hit a sacrifice fly.

Starting pitcher Vince Velasquez allowed three runs on three hits with four walks and a pair of strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Andrew Walters allowed a run in his lone inning of work and then Ryan Webb pitched two scoreless frames before getting blasted for four runs in the eighth.
Akron RubberDucks 13, Altoona Curve 1
Box Score: RubberDucks improve to 7-2
Akron’s offense went ballistic on Sunday, with every player reaching base safely and six collecting multi-hit games in a dominant performance.
Leading the way was Alex Mooney, who went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and a walk while also stealing a base.

Dayan Frias also had a monster game, going 3-for-5 with a home run and a double.

Other standouts included C.J. Kayfus, who went 3-for-6 with a triple (his third already this season).

Travis Bazzana reached base safely four times, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two walks.

Jorge Burgos went 1-for-4 with a triple and two walks. Joe Lampe also reached base safely four times, going 2-for-4 with two walks.
Starting pitcher Rorik Maltrud allowed one run on two hits in 3.0 innings while striking out six and walking three.
Magnus Ellerts picked up the win, striking out all six outs of his 2.0 innings of scoreless relief. Ross Carver added 2.0 scoreless innings while Carter Spivey and Allen Hernandez both pitched a scoreless frame to close out the game.
Lake County Captains 8, West Michigan Whitecaps 4
Box Score: Captains improve to 6-3
Top prospect Ralphy Velazquez led the way with his fourth home run of the young season, going 2-for-5 at the dish.

Jacob Cozart also is showing signs of warming up, going 2-for-4 with a walk while Christian Knapczyk went 2-for-3 with a walk. Jose Devers reached base safely twice with a double and a walk and Wuilfredo Antunez tripled.
Starting pitcher Caden Favors worked around danger, allowing two runs on two hits with four walks in 3.0 innings.
Josh Harlow was terrific out of the bullpen, tossing 2.0 scoreless frames and Jack Jasiak closed out the game with 2.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts to pick up the win.
Lynchburg Hillcats 7, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 8
Box Score: Hillcats fall to 4-5
Lynchburg entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing by three runs and the Hillcats’ rally came up just one run short.
Leading the way was catcher Bennett Thompson, who continues to produce from the heart of the order, going 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs batted in.
Garrett Howe went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs while Welbyn Francisca walked three times and scored three runs. Luis Merejo and Alberto Mendez both had a pair of walks.
Starting pitcher Jacob Zibin struggled, allowing three runs on two hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
The bullpen was hit and miss. Sean Matson pitched 1.2 perfect innings with two strikeouts while Jervis Alfaro gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits in 4.0 innings of long relief.
